It was not overly large, but the whole operation—designing, quarrying, transporting material, building, etc., apparently involved the labors of over 150,000 workmen and took seven years in building (I Kings 5:13-16). The seven years, perhaps providentially, corresponded at least in duration to the Lord’s seven-year sabbatical cycle (Leviticus 25:3,4.).
